Pros

Competitive wages 401K match (4%) Stipend for commuting Good work life balance

Cons

Culture varies drastically from team to team. If there are issues with upper management/bosses, employees have no support system to seek help and remedy issues. Some employee's work life balance comes at the expense of their coworkers. Repeatedly had to come in to work earlier or stay later to compensate for someone else. D&I felt like lip service as it often does at these big companies. Only those who are minorities were the ones involved. During pandemic, management made assumptions but never actually bothered to check if the assumptions were true and onus was on employees to deal with bosses regarding what they felt safe doing. Bonuses were cut for scientists who stayed in the lab throughout the pandemic, even though company made high profit.

Pros

Excellent benefits, competitive salary, and great (manager-dependent) work-life balance. Generous amount of vacation time (and a month long sabbatical after 6 years)!

Cons

Experience is very manager dependent and there tends to be discrepancies between groups for treatment, raises/promotions, etc. Higher management is very disconnected to what the day-to-day tasks of scientists looks like, leading to unrealistic expectations. In a scientific role, promotions come quickly in the first few years but then there is a plateau and steep requirements thereafter.
