Pros
-Small company in which each individual has the potential to make a large difference. If you like to take on responsibility and see the impact of your efforts, NUTECH is quite the playground. -Given the large changes in the recent past, for which I noticed some here have complained about, the company is in the right direction and position to grow as the oil and gas industry recovers. The company is finally headed by a transparent and at times selfless man (Steve) that has the best interest of the company at heart. This is a stark difference to past management and is quite inspiring. These changes nonetheless required to let go many employees that were not needed for the future of the company. It is quite fulfilling to see that most everyone now adds value for the collective benefit of the company, the many families it supports and for once the investors. -Many employees and the investors sacrificed their dollars, time and sweat for the company during the restructuring and in the rot of the market downturn. Now the company is increasing salaries accordingly, giving initiative awards and just making NUTECH a better place to be. A very nice place indeed. -work with a group of very smart and technical folks that for the most part are not just good at their job, but good people with great hearts. We have summer parties at Jeff’s house on the lake. These are not company sponsored, but employees get together and plan them out. The sense of community is good if you look for it. -Everyone’s hidden talents are coming to the surface. There are guys creating their own software packages to make their jobs faster and easier. Some of these are quite impressive. Productivity is improving and everyone speaks out on ways to make it better. The culture of fixing problems and making our processes better is taking hold, which makes everyone take part and the cycle reinforces itself.
Cons
-As a small company everyone needs to do what they are need for. There is not a lot of room for finding yourself or for developing your non-core competencies. The ability to attend conferences is there, but you must present. Many managers have not pushed their employees to get better and improve themselves. That is changing specially now with all the internal innovation going on. -There are some legacy features from past management regarding work-time-life flexibility that need to change. We got flexible work schedule which was quite the achievement a few years past, but there is room to improve the non-monetary value the company gives its employees making a better case to retain and attract the best.
