Pros
Excellent medical benefits (if your doctor is willing to haggle with your insurance long enough—no joke the insurance is really aggressive at trying to avoid paying your bills). But if you got a good doc, insurance is excellent. Friendly non managers, very team oriented.
Cons
With no exceptions, every manager from every nugget location eventually becomes a “living breathing Nugget” by which I mean the are not your friend. As the Miranda rights goes, everything you say to a manager will eventually come back to but you. And bite you hard. They recently have been promoting minorities and women instead of whites (white women suffer similar fates but to a lesser extent than men) so I’m just waiting for a lawsuit to start over this. When the top 100 staff come in, managers surround them and no one dares tell the real truth, most people try to stay out of the way. People in every department fear the managers but no one dares say anything. When union employees picket outside, a few managers or manager wannabes say hateful anti union things and no one dares say anything. People are fired non stop, which is called “no longer being with the company” since Nugget promotes how it has never ever laid off a single employee. Not laid off, but firing employees is non-stop. If you can’t learn to brown nose fast enough, you get booted. At the end of the day, all pastries are “donated to the local homeless shelter” which is code words for being put in the trash compactor. They used to let employees take home the leftovers but apparently a few employees made extras of what they liked. Instead of punishing the bad employees, they just punished every employee. And they make us lie to customers that we donate the pastries. We don’t. We throw it all in the trash. Don’t believe that it goes to the compost, the maintenance often doesn’t speak English and so the fancy signs in English or Spanish (which they can’t read) telling them to compost doesn’t mean anything.
