Pros

Decent pay and benefits, lots of technology under one roof if you're in IT

Cons

The name of the game at KAR is saying but not actually doing something. So if you say you're focusing on people, well then, that's all you need to do -- and exactly what they did. Pick a topic--most of the time it was talked about as if it was done and that seemed to be enough, never amounted to any substantive changes and definitely meant no one was actually doing it. Growth through acquisition creates issues as there are duplicates of every leadership position at or above VP that ensure nothing really gets done. The desire for hiring "thought leaders" -- and replacing managers with years of technical background managing technical people with people who "manage people" has caused a many people to leave, for obvious reasons that only the senior IT leadership don't seem to understand--i.e. who wants to work for someone asked to manage something they barely understand? There's a palpable disdain for people who are technical and wish to remain that way and do a good job. A good company would be looking for ways to retain, train, and value those people.
