Some growing pains, but overall my experience has been positive. - Software Developer OPTiMO IT Employee Review

Pros

The employees are nice to work with. The work is challenging. We have flexibility with our schedules, and can work remotely when needed. Although the deadlines are tight and the clients can be demanding, that's expected in the world of development. Since this is a smaller company you have a pretty open line of communication to everyone including the owner and management (if you want it). The owner seems genuine in wanting to see employees enjoy their work and grow. The work is stable, which is hard to find here.

Cons

The company is young, so there are ways they can improve, which can be said for all companies. Even well established companies deal with growing pains and employee morale issues. Some of the cons mentioned seem a bit unfounded, but that's pretty common in this area. The insurance cost may be high, but it's really good and to be fair that's not really something employers can dictate.

Pros

- Coworkers are generally really great: there really are some wonderful people working here - Potential opportunities to work in many different projects. Had a chance to work on all kinds of projects early on- if they ever get back to doing more commercial projects it's a great way to experience many different projects from the ground up

Cons

- Pay absolutely did not keep up with industry and raises were inconsistent at best: went several years without even a cost of living adjustment when inflation was at an all time high - Too much middle management/red tape in projects (especially anything government related). Endless meetings, recording every detail of how you spent your time in 4-5 different places, often felt like the clerical side of things was more important to managers than actually getting things done - Several projects seemed to lack direction or felt like they were started too early leading to feeling like you were doing a lot of "busy work" just to hit the hours they wanted
