Pros

Benefits are fair. Being a part of great healthcare

Cons

Promotions based on personal relationships rather than experience and education. Less than professional environment. New employee are told the shuttle system is fast , this is not true. Parking is a disaster ! Employees park in only the top levels of a parking garage , walk in a less than safe environment to a shuttle that is rarely on time only to ride a shuttle with drivers that are talking or texting as they drive.

We are sorry that working at OU Medicine has left a negative impression on you. At all levels of leadership, we are committed to fostering a culture that invests in employees and rewards outstanding achievement based on merit. Our recruiters are diligent in their screening process. They review every candidate based on minimum qualifications, and partner with leaders to hire the most qualified and best-suited candidate for each available role. We encourage our staff to report any issues or concerns they may have by utilizing their chain of command, contacting their HR Business Partner, or utilizing our Ethics & Compliance Hotline. Our patients and employees are our top priority, and as a growing organization, we are working to address the transportation and parking concerns, which are common issues with most large hospital systems across the country. OU Medicine covers the cost of employee parking and provides around-the-clock shuttle service, with frequent direct routes to our hospitals during peak times, such as shift change. OU Medicine is ranked higher on Glassdoor, by current and former employees, than other healthcare employers in our local market. We strive to create a culture of teamwork and inclusion, where our employees are proud to come to work every day. Our leadership values employees’ feedback as we strive to make OU Medicine, not only a leader in patient care, but also the premier healthcare employer in Oklahoma. Again, thank you for your feedback. We wish you personal and professional success in your future endeavors.

Pros

Workplace Culture and Team Collaboration: Many employees appreciate the supportive, family-like atmosphere and strong teamwork within their teams and across departments. They value the camaraderie, inclusivity, and mutual respect that foster a positive work environment focused on patient care. Meaningful Work and Patient Impact: Employees find motivation and satisfaction in knowing their work directly or indirectly improves patient care and community health. This sense of purpose is a significant driver of engagement.

Cons

Degree Requirements and Career Advancement: Many employees express concern that strict degree requirements, especially for IT roles, hinder career progression and demoralize experienced staff without degrees. There is a strong preference for recognizing equivalent experience or certifications in lieu of formal degrees to promote internal mobility and retain talent.
