Pros
Oatey has potential for being a great place to work. Associates are typically very adept at their individual jobs. In the past it has taken every opportunity to purchase other companies within its core competencies.
Cons
Remote distribution points have little input to decision-making or corporate process improvements even though they are the downstream internal customers of manufacturing arm. Level of professionalism and support for remote facilities is lacking from corporate staff positions. Oatey’s number one published “corporate value” is “Honor God in all we do”; unfortunately the message that is delivered through everyday leadership to associates is “profit before all else”. All Information Systems are woefully out of date and often will not support corporate required productivity. Oatey seems to have no defined long-range business plan. It seems to react to short-term business cycles with drastic actions rather than accepting short term losses in favor of long term viability.
