Pros

The majority of the reviews for Oberto Brands are on either side of the spectrum - either really good or really bad - and nothing really in between. The really good reviews are from the "go-go-go", "rah-rah-rah", senior executives mixing and passing out the kool-aid. The really bad reviews are, well, from the worker-bees in the corporate office whose voices are not heard but on forums such as this. This place needs a lot of help and the current Board, senior executives, and VPs, and some Directors, are NOT the people for this uphill battle. In fact, they are the ones which got us here in the first place. Food on Friday mornings sometimes and jerky samples sometimes.

Cons

The HR department is completely useless and drunk on the kool-aid. How many VPs does one company actually need? Nepotism does exist and really should be eliminated. Playing favorites... if you are not a "yes" person or not willing to sell your sole to stroke the ego of your boss you will not enjoy this place at all.

Oberto Snacks Response

Over the last couple of months, there have been a few posts characterizing Oberto as being rife with turnover and favoritism. We sincerely value the feedback we receive on Glassdoor, but I would like to highlight a few things regarding our organization. When I came into the business at the beginning of 2015, we did have significant turnover, and we had several significant business issues that occurred in 2014. My primary goal has been to build a solid, profitable organization where everyone regardless of position or level would feel proud to work at our company. Specifically, it is my hope that everyone will feel engaged and can grow professionally and financially at Oberto. Without a doubt, our most important asset is our people, and the company’s success is based on everyone’s contribution to the whole. In terms of our turnover, we have steadily reduced the overall turnover at our company. Here are the turnover statistics from 2014 onwards: 35% in 2014, 26% in 2015, 23% in 2016 and 19% in 2017. Our goal is to get below the national industry average of 16% for a manufacturing company. The reality is that we will always have some level of turnover based on retirements, people leaving for personal reasons and it just not working out for some people. Relative to favoritism, our goal is to treat everyone equally and fairly. As such, we have implemented a company-wide performance management system where employees have quantifiable objectives and deliverables that ladder-up to our corporate-wide goals. We have also implemented a comprehensive succession planning system where employees have visibility to career opportunities both short and long term within the company. The culture we are trying to create is one where we value and reward those that make our company better. While it may seem subjective to some, I can tell you that there have been tremendous contributions and accomplishments by people that have improved our business in the last few years, and these people have been rewarded.
