Pros
Great first role as a dedicated Data Scientist, and has opportunities for personal growth/accomplishment if you're able to wade through the cons. I'm enjoying it overall, it ticks the boxes I was looking for. It's a good stepping-stone company. They pay for the move. Great location. Flexible environment - room to take on projects that interest you and are beneficial (if you can slip the grasp of dead-end projects and management that doesn't understand reasonable dev timelines) Tax free. Housing allowance, Living allowance. Despite my complaints below, I've been enjoying it. My co-workers got caught up by the bs and it's not as enjoyable for them. I wouldn't say this is a stay-forever company, but would definitely recommend as a stepping stone to better things.
Cons
Comparatively low-pay. Benefits mostly balance it out. No flex hours Unrealistic timeline expectations (projects need to be done 'by Friday' - they haven't realized that dev work takes time). SOW should allow for certain projects, but instead, we're pushed to do other stuff. Getting HR support is like pulling teeth. They answer sometimes - but then they also won't. Wasn't told about many of the benefits of being here - had to find out from other contractors when here. Conus leadership sometimes doesn't grasp challenges and hurdles. Frequent communication disconnects.
