Pros
I started in Store Planning 11 years ago. I was promoted to Executive Assistant a little over a year after I was hired. I am not related to anyone else in the company. I also don't consider myself a corporate lackey. Whenever I have an issue, I go right to our CHRO and voice my concerns. Not only do my opinions NOT fall on deaf ears, he and his department provide updates regarding the progress of any issues I raise. I know people who have been here a long time may still fall into the old way of thinking. The company had growing pains, because we grew SO fast! (We've opened over 40 stores since I've been here.) Now we have a team in Human Resources that is working tirelessly to find new and exciting perks and incentives to make it very fun to work here. I can't believe someone else on here complained about the restaurants and car dealerships being "shoved down our throats." Okay, you're right. Who wants a 15% discount on restaurants or a 20% discount on a brand new car? Who wants United Health, vision care, dental, life insurance, 401K, movie ticket discounts, theme park discounts, profit sharing checks, etc.? Let's get to the point. Our team is aggressively pushing to become one of the best companies in New England. I work in the corporate office, so I can't attest to what's going on in the stores. But I am watching FIRST HAND how massive changes for the better are taking place here at Corporate. There is NO ONE on our management team I wouldn't speak to if I had any questions, concerns, or thought anything was unfair. This is not the Job Lot of a long time ago. It's like a brand new company with the owners and Human Resources encompassing all levels and including us in this incredible push forward. If you're thinking of working here, here's what you need to know. You have to be willing to have a positive attitude and work well with your team. Never become complacent. Continue to learn. (Did I mention we have a fantastic training department that's growing even as I type?) Be willing to make your coworkers look good, because that's how you will succeed. Job Lot is on a fast track to success. If you want to feel like part of our family, come join us! I promise you won't be disappointed! (p. s. We now have a full-service Cafeteria on site. The chef is GREAT to work with and is willing to try any new suggestions for delicious meals!)
Cons
This list is practically non-existent. I have to admit, especially after reading some other reviews, the biggest issue right now is negative employees that feel it's better to complain than to become a part of the solution. If these employees aren't happy, they should leave. Don't try to bring the rest of us down.
