Pros

The founders (CEO and COO) are each one of a kind, and perfectly balance each other. Work / life balance is good for such a high performance startup. Working here, you feel like you're on the cutting edge of enterprise IT, and connected with the leaders in cloud. This company was built on execution. It was built with the desire and willingness to be a leader in IT, and with the plan to simply serve customers the best and deliver the best value and the rest will follow. That plan has made Okta an incredibly fulfilling place to work, and completely aligned with my own values. I like feeling at the end of each day that I moved the needle forward, I got stuff done, I helped someone and I made an impact. Okta gave me those feelings in spades, like no other company I've ever worked for before. I've had the freedom to run with projects that have transformed the company. We've applied an agile approach to every part of the business, not just engineering. Build, test iterate. There are just tons of incredibly talented, no ego, collaborative and fun people to work with here.

Cons

The future feels a bit uncertain. We're definitely fighting battles on a number of fronts now in the market, which makes it a challenge across the company. It's an incredible team and product though, and I'm still confident in Okta. As our teams have all gotten bigger, I'm feeling a less personal connection across functions. And, please stop bringing in more junk food as snacks! It's really hard to walk by that stuff every day. Very taxing on my will power.

Pros

Smart, talented, and supportive colleagues. Interesting products and the opportunity to work on technology that impacts many customers. Good work-life balance in most teams. Collaborative culture with opportunities to learn from experienced peers. Strong brand recognition and valuable experience for your resume

Cons

Cons Recognition is lacking, especially for individual contributors. Strong performance and consistent delivery do not necessarily translate into career advancement, promotions, or meaningful salary increases. Growth opportunities appear limited for ICs, while management roles seem to receive a greater share of advancement and compensation opportunities. After several years, many individual contributors may find themselves reaching a career plateau with few clear paths for progression. If career growth, promotion opportunities, and compensation advancement are important priorities, it may be worth evaluating other opportunities once you’ve gained experience here
