Great pay, not much incentive for hard work - Actuarial Consultant Oliver Wyman Employee Review

Pros

The co-workers were great Flex hours were nice. Better study hours for actuarial exams compared to most consulting companies

Cons

Favored more toward experienced hires than new hires Easy to get pigeonholed into one type of work After a while, work boils down to routine tasks Bonus is based on company performance, then office performance, then number of billable hours. You could be the highest billable hour employee, but not see the full benefit of the bonus due to office performance. Raises are based on actuarial exam progress, so no reward for high billable hours.

Pros

Good culture, solid pay, good benefits

Cons

Same as with most big companies. HR a little too focused on DEI and feel good inclusion initiatives over things that matter to most employees and clients. Top management messaging is generic and seems forced. But all senior leadership seem fairly genuine and good people vs. hyper focused on dollars alone.
