Pros
None the experience was really frustrating and unfair although I tried my best to make it work
Cons
I came into this role with years of international fine dining experience, as an H2b . Sadly, this job turned out to be one of the most disappointing experiences I’ve had. The hotel itself is worn down and poorly maintained. While I did my best to keep my work area clean and professional, the environment was overall unkept and neglected. Despite advertising $15/hr, we were paid closer to $3/hr plus tips, which barely meets minimum wage in Florida. But even tips were not fairly distributed. I was constantly assigned to non-tipped areas like the lobby, even though my job title was server. This created a competitive and toxic atmosphere, where certain staff members were favored and others pushed aside. Management allowed — and in some cases encouraged — bullying behavior, including assigning side jobs with no tip potential and excluding certain employees from opportunities to earn more. One of the bartenders warned me that management was looking for a way to fire me, and soon after, I was let go based on a fabricated story about a customer complaint. The incident had nothing to do with me, no name was mentioned, and there were multiple staff working that day — yet they assumed it was me without investigation or fairness. There is no room for growth, no appreciation for experienced staff, and the location is isolated and limiting. Even with a strong background in hospitality, you won’t be valued here. I would not recommend this job to anyone seeking a respectful, supportive, or professional work environment
