Pros
Onduo provides a great opportunity to learn a very complex and rather broken industry, deeply understand human behavior around health and chronic disease management, and build a company, while tangibly improving healthcare for 1,000s of people with some of the newest technology available on the market. CGMs are really cool and they are almost magical in the Type 2 world. - Opportunity to innovate and scale innovation into repeatable processes - Onduo is adequately resourced to build teams, experiment with product and technology, and bring a really meaningful solution for people with Type 2 diabetes. - Leadership team and CEO care about people and willing to take feedback / pushback - Opportunity to work and build new products and services with Verily (ex. Google X/ Google Life Science) - Onduo team is awesome. Not only do Onduo folks care about complete strangers, but they also deeply care about their teammates and making them successful.
Cons
Startups are not for everyone - there is a lot of ambiguity, many processes do not exist, some processes lack in maturity. Onduo is also not your typical startup, since it is organized as a joint venture between two healthcare behemoths (Verily and Sanofi). So some days feel very startup-ish and others feel a lot more formal. - Joint venture structure creates an overhead in terms of meetings and occasionally slower decision-making - Things also move fast across multiple workstreams and that certainly creates stress - Things move slow because it's healthcare and it is regulated, so some areas (IT, security, data access, even some product changes) need to be reviewed and passed through multiple checks
