Zero work life balance - Anonymous employee OneBlood Employee Review

Zero work life balance for mobile team members. They expect you to be available 24/7 and will schedule you all different days and times including split shifts, your days off will be split up, and you will never have a weekend off. Sometimes you will get home from a blood drive at 1am and be expected to clock in the next day at 6am. You will not see your family or have a social life. They operate short staffed on a regular basis and expect employees to constantly pick up the slack even when it is unsafe and unethical. Very little appreciation for those who keep the business running. Bad press in the newspaper about how the blood bank spends exorbitantly on CEO salaries and perks make it difficult to be proud of the company. They have adopted a new "points system" for attendance and tardiness where if you receive a point whether you arrive 5 minutes late or call out for 3 days in a row, it is the same. After 3 points you are subject to corrective action which is rationale to deny you a raise at the end of the year. It really makes it feel like you are just a little cog in a big machine and no one really cares anymore. One of my coworkers got into a car wreck on her way to work and still managed to make it in albeit a few minutes late... she received a point per the attendance policy. Other coworkers call out for 3 days in a row just because they don't feel like coming in and are penalized the same.
