Great place for people who like micromanagers, low morale, and manufactured urgency. - GTM OneTrust Employee Review

Pros

Good product, decent salary. The market OneTrust built with its privacy products has an amazing cult-like following of customers who are rooting for (hoping for?) its success.

Cons

The level of manufactured urgency here is astounding. But maybe that should be expected since strategic direction changes near-constantly. The product is good, but unfortunately it's been left to die on the vine in pursuit of the next shiny object. The company went through some pretty painful layoffs in 2022, then again in 2023, and yet nothing has changed internally at the company to hold accountable the leadership that has let this happen. The company’s response to the growing burnout, malaise, and poor morale has been to post wellness tips in a Teams channel about how to avoid burnout. But in practice, though, the leaders of the company seem content with the saying of old: “the beatings will continue until morale improves.” If you’re a fan of being micromanaged by folks with inflated titles, this place is for you. Read the reviews and trust your gut.

Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback. While it's disappointing to see you didn't enjoy your experience at OneTrust overall, it's great to see you believe in our privacy product. That's certainly how we became the market leader we are today; we had first-mover advantage, and we have since seen the necessary shift businesses are taking toward something bigger - trust. We continue to adapt our software to meet the needs of our customers and to help them operationalize trust in the real world. One of the ways we're doing this is through our new AI Governance. While we haven't always provided this product, this is a new undertaking OneTrust is championing as of 2023 as we continue to see increased risk by the introduction of AI. Additionally, we continue to build out our People team to support a number of initiatives, and while the work isn't finished, we're proud of what we've accomplished so far. In the 18 months our Chief People Officer has been at OneTrust, his org has rolled out revamped culture and values, implemented our first performance management process, introduced team value spotlight awards, and enhanced our benefits to include 14+ weeks parental leave globally, better mental health providers, and companywide recharge days off (including the week between Christmas and New Year's Day and volunteering PTO). We look forward to the future progress of all our teams as OneTrust continues to grow.

Pros

Unfortunately there isn't anything worth highlighting. If you are actively interviewing at OneTrust, I would encourage you to carefully read through the reviews. There are several red flags that I wish I would have been aware of prior to joining.

Cons

- Unsustainable turnover and bad leadership: The CEO, CRO, CFO, and CTO abruptly quit shortly after I started. There is extremely high turnover across all teams (particularly in GTM). Favoritism runs rampant, especially with tenured leaders. - Lack of job security and stability: At the beginning of this year, several of my peers were impacted by a reduction in force. This unfortunately appears to be a common occurrence at the start of the fiscal year. OneTrust is a revolving door for top talent. - Poor compensation: The bonus pool was slashed a few weeks after being announced at a company all-hands. This money was allegedly invested elsewhere (unclear where though). There is no equity refresh for existing employees and merit increases were far and few between this year. - Lack of diversity: Despite being headquartered in Atlanta, there are no black c-suite members. The board has no female members. Diversity is limited at the most senior leadership levels.
