Pros

I have been at OpenEye nearly 3 years. I joined the team because of the reputation their culture had among my industry colleagues, opportunity for career growth due to company growth, and a technology that has a head start in the cloud space. OpenEye has been everything I had hoped it would be. The culture here is outstanding and inclusive. Leadership has an OpenEye door policy and truly values feedback that leads to change in company/product direction. I've watched the sales organization grow incredibly quickly in a short time and the company continues to grow aggressively. Alarm.com has been an amazing parent company. They have outstanding benefits and are hyper-focused on employee well-being with new benefits being introduced almost every month, it seems. They continue to invest in OpenEye in all the right ways and have some very proven people running the company on the Alarm.com side. I've really enjoyed my time and success here and look forward to calling OpenEye home for the foreseeable future.

Cons

We often times refer to ourselves as a "20 year old start-up" and are growing very aggressively in this cloud chapter of the company's history. With this comes some turbulence as we establish new systems, new departments, and make changes to existing ones.

Pros

Great office space. Great coworkers. Ample opportunity for growth. Company and community events are frequent - Bike build, community cleanups and many other fun events. Parent company provides a stipend that offsets ~80-100% of benefits costs. AI initiatives appear to focus on "Do more with the same workforce" rather than "Do the same with less workforce"

Cons

Pay is low for the market. Raises are non-existent outside of promotions. Actual health benefits are mediocre. 401k matching is capped at $5000. Growing pains due to massive engineering team growth leading to constant management structure shuffling and team rearrangement. Tech stack is playing catch up. "Documentation" for several integral components/workflows lives entirely in the head of 2 or 3 senior engineers.
