Pros

Working with the individuals and creating meaningful relationships is the only rewarding part of the job.

Cons

I would strongly caution anyone considering employment at Orange Grove. DSP positions are not on-call, but if you move into any type of management or coordinator role, expect a very different experience. Management staff are frequently unsupported, overworked, and placed in positions where they are expected to constantly fill staffing gaps. The workload can become overwhelming quickly, and there is little backup or balance when issues arise. Pay also does not reflect the level of responsibility in leadership roles. Many employees express concerns about communication, consistency, and overall support within the organization. There are also frequent complaints regarding how person-centered care is implemented, with some staff feeling that placement and decisions can feel driven more by operational or financial priorities than individual needs. While the work with individuals can be meaningful, the structure makes it difficult to succeed long-term without burnout. There’s not a lot of room to grow either, you’re stuck unless you become a nurse but even then, the nurses are not happy at OG.
