Pros

It is a pretty easy job. It is just driving, picking up and delivering .The hours are somewhat flexible. It is an okay part time job if you are in need of a bit of extra cash.

Cons

You will definitely get orders but they dispatch assigns orders so tight with no consideration for external factors that affect delivery time such as finding parking, traffic conditions, distance, and time to reach customer. They seem to go with what the GPS says on how long it takes to get to a place. Almost guaranteed that you you will only get the $12/hour minimum pay since most customers on average just tip from $1-$2. Plus sometimes they will assign you an order 8 miles away to pick up an order and 8 miles back to deliver with the order already sitting at the restaurant for 45mins. Customer received the food cold and that is unacceptable. Having long trips is not good for both customer and driver. Customer receives food cold even when placed in a hot bag since pick up was late. The driver adds more mileage and spends more on gas to receive $1-$2 tip. Driver completes less orders because of the time it takes to deliver. Plus they cut $60 off your 1st pay check for the hot bag. My 1st payment from order ahead driving 6.25 hours is only $15 because of that. I was busy driving 6.25 hours non stop and still end up with the minimum guarantee. Plus dispatch needs to notify drivers ahead of time when the order was placed and estimated time to make the order not only when it is ready so drivers can plan the trips accordingly. There has to be a way to assign orders in a timely manner to the right drivers. Is it worth driving for $12 per hour? When you have to spend on gas, auto maintenance and pay your own taxes. It's for you to decide if you are considering this job. They should increase minimum to at least $15 per hour or $12 plus tips. $12 minimum is very discouraging since you will probably spend $20 or more on gas driving around the city for ok neand pay at least 20% of income for taxes.

Pros

This is a great organization for your first or second opportunity out of college. You'll find that OrderAhead provides you with opportunities that you wouldn't necessarily get at a much larger company. If you work hard and commit the time, you'll find yourself able to work further into what you're specifically interested in, and within a (relatively) short amount of time. You are guaranteed an opportunity to work directly with your team manager on a regular basis, which is a very positive aspect of initial work experience. OrderAhead is a place where you "earn" what you put in. The ups and downs of the company are a fantastic learning experience that will benefit you in your 3rd or 4th career, and that's important to keep that in mind as you build your resume. The best teammates at OrderAhead are those who are able to focus on their own long-term career goals, and not get too absorbed in team movements, adjustments, etc.

Cons

In exchange for the pros, you'll have to accept the longer hours and lower pay relative to larger startups in the area, especially in your first year. Also, smaller companies are by nature often less organized. Expect to work under a fluctuating environment where areas, like team goals/priorities, change on a semi-frequent (quarterly) basis. You'll go through stretches where you won't be particularly enamored by the work you're doing.
