Pros

Outstanding mission-driven organization with exceptionally talented, collaborative colleagues. I had the opportunity to work on cutting-edge ophthalmology clinical trials with multidisciplinary teams who genuinely cared about advancing patient care. The work was intellectually stimulating, there were many opportunities to learn, and I appreciated the culture of scientific curiosity and collaboration within the Casey Eye Institute.

Cons

Like many academic medical centers, organizational priorities can shift quickly with changes in funding. Decision-making can be slow, communication during organizational changes could be improved, and career advancement opportunities may be limited outside of traditional academic pathways. Funding uncertainty can affect long-term job stability for research staff.
