Pros
good work ethic and collegial. There are some exceptional individuals who are working on some cutting edge stuff. The University also works with local hi-tech companies and other universities such as Portland State and Oregon State. This gives an opportunity to explore areas that otherwise are hard to come by
Cons
Career growth is stunted as many folks work for long time and new openings aren't created that often. This creates a situation where years on job is given a disproportionate share of credit over creativity and dynamism. Since this is an academic medical center, the dice is loaded in favor of health care professionals and those in other careers have to live with it.
