Pros

* Leadership changes every 3-5 years. If you don't like your manager, outlast them. * It pays the bills

* Leadership changes every 3-5 years * Micromanaging disguised as "trust but verify" * Work/Life balance is horrific. If you're in management, expect to be on-call 24/7 * Unless you "know someone", you're nothing more than a number * HR is more concerned about protecting the company than they are employees * All employees are held accountable for safety (rightfully so), but the company doesn't breathe safety * Thinking about outside sales? They'll promise you the moon in earning potential. Reality is you will make $1200 per month + commission. Unless you're a pushy, top 10% performer, you won't make more than $40K. * Thinking of being a Pest Control Tech? You'll work 10-12 hour days, without an hourly wage. Yup, it's commission/production. Want to take vacation? No problem. All the work you missed while you were away will be waiting when you get back. Orkin doesn't staff ahead or for these things. Oh, and after your 10-12 hour shift, you'll have sales and collection call nights. * There's no room for creativity. Everyone must march to the same beat. * You will always hear far more criticizing than praising. Don't take your tie off when it's too hot. Don't make a mistake on a report. Don't try hard and fall short. No matter how important it is, don't post something on the wall that's not inside of a frame. Don't call out sick.

Leads can be slow at times, especially in certain seasons Long hours can be required to meet goals Some days are more unpredictable depending on the workload

Pros

Good pay, opportunities for sales depending on region

Cons

Orkin cares more about quantity over quality. If you care about doing a good job, don't work here. They will load your day up with tons of jobs and not enough time to do them (or do a good job anyways.) Management lives in their own bubble, and communicates poorly. I transfered to a new region and all services were a mess. Customers who have had Orkin for a year plus had homes still infested with pests. Prior techs hadn't cleaned any cobwebs, never cleaned webbing off siding or eaves. It was embarrassing. Commercial services weren't any better. I believe prior techs were just scanning stations and leaving. Orkin only cares if you punch through reports and collect money. If you also bring up customers that are being overcharged, management will never fix that either. Benefits also weren't great and quite expensive. Manager would also use slurs like the R-word despite knowing I had an autistic child. Just a gross place with gross values.
