Pros
Comradery between RNs within the unit. Wide range of specialties. Potential for great experience with different modalities . Somewhat transparent with future vision of hospital
Cons
Poor structure of training and education system. Poor leadership. Management consistently puts patient lives in danger by forcing RNs to serve in an area they have not been adequately trained in. Nursing concerns are met with defensive and abrupt responses. There is a feeling of "you're just a body and I can do whatever I want with you" between leadership and staff. Specialty departments are staffed with travelers or new hires due to high staff turnover and social media posts trashing these areas in addition to the manager. Frustrated physicians refusing to admit their patients there or perform elective procedures there.
