Pros

There is a small handful of really great, competent people leftover from the Shiseido days. Unfortunately they have all had their teams cut, and have each had to absorb minimum of 4-5 jobs, due to widespread layoffs and people leaving due to overwork and unhappy culture.

Cons

An example of life at Orveon: When Orveon bought 3 brands from Shiseido, they organized a welcome day, in the NYC office. They did not cancel this event, even though it was during the first omicron surge in NYC. In person attendance was not required, but it was the first opportunity to meet with the new leadership so a lot of people showed up. People were told vaccination was required, but nobody's was checked. The office was PACKED - you literally had to brush past people, tap people on the shoulder to squeeze through - and they served breakfast, so very few were wearing masks. In this context, the new head of HR stood up in front of the crowd, with a livestream camera zoomed in on him for everyone remote, looked out at a room of unmasked people literally standing shoulder-to-shoulder due to lack of space...and said he wanted everyone dialing in to know how proud he was that the company was people-first and safety first, and that everyone who came to the event in person was vaccinated, masked, and social distancing. So just to recap: this was the company's new head of HR, meeting the team for the first time, and having no problem very obviously lying. This was representative of what was to follow... promoted a few people, telling them they were valuable, integral to the future, and would have more/bigger teams reporting into them, then laid off most of their teams without ever consulting them on which roles were worth keeping and which could be cut...told the 3 brands they were all valued in how different they were and they would all operate independently, then did mass layoffs and merged the teams. Obviously restructuring is hard! It's not fun for anyone, and it's something that's often necessary, and can lead to a stronger company in the long run — if it's done right. But the consistent dishonesty from leadership, starting day 1, doesn't bode well for the team.

We regret that you had a negative experience. We understand that the transition had some bumps in the road, and we appreciate how hard everyone is working to support these beautiful brands. We have great people at Orveon . As we’re building our organization for the future, this means looking at the organization as a whole to make sure we are the right size and unfortunately employee impacts are sometimes a result of that. This is a decision we never take lightly.
