Pros
Usual consulting benefits: (Flight points, hotel stays, networking)
Freedom to explore whichever avenues interest you, very much a work hard play hard environment
Working hard for other companies allows for opportunities to join them instead.
Cons
Since everything is 'self-motivated' there's no reward for finding business or doing extra work (which becomes expected the longer you work there). Despite what they say about business development, none of the business is with non-German clients and if it is that means it's a project that's going to be short-lived.
Seeing the top-level management/partners in action is extremely demotivating. Many are under qualified to manage anything let alone give a presentation to client.
Once a project is secured, the support that you'll receive from internal upper management is dismal at best. You will basically be sold off to the client and asked to report back with any issues, but once issues are named you need to 'lead' and figure them out on your own whereas not to lose the business.
100% a boy's club. There are less than 3 woman in senior roles or higher.
