Pros

There are kind and sincere people here. They work with you and take the time to speak with you. If they see that you are having issues then they take the time to show you again. There are a couple of exceptions, as there are in every company, but for the most part I experienced outgoing people who were engaging were willing to get link with you. They're thinking of selling in the next five years, they have some VC invested, and there are a lot of initiatives going to make the company look great and operate at a crisp clip before they sell it off and the owner sails off into retirement.

Cons

I want to be clear, forthcoming and honest with my rating so I don't appear to be on a passionate tirade against PEI. I worked at PEI for 22 business days and then I was fired. I was fired because I was not good at the job. 22 days did leave me with a sour taste in my mouth. I had taken a lot of additional time to work through all of the components of the job that I didn't understand. I had showed up early some days, and left late some days in order to show my commitment to the job and learn when I realized I was having difficulties. I had left another job at a different company - frankly a great company - for more pay - which obviously I have come to rue.. 22 days felt premature and pre-emptive. I looked at my notes from the interview after I was fired and the person who had fired me stated that training would take in the neighborhood of 4-6 months during my interview. No one is perfect, but I hadn't even reach my second month. They were not aware they were going to fire me three hours before the end of the work day - because at 1 O'clock they'd sent someone over to train me on something new. The bottom line of all of this though is this. I acquired the job too easily. They didn't do a drug test - which costs 5 grand (I've been told) and is demonstrative of commitment on the employers part because it shows they're putting money into you upfront. I was doing work within the second day - which is not altogether untoward but a little suprising - and the nature of the role, which was purely processing, had little or nothing to do with what I had been hired for - which was my capabilities with excel. A lot of the people are nice and senior management seemed nice enough. I noticed a strong intimate bond between the highest levels of management and the tenured mid-level management people, which was indicative of a strong sense of belonging and personal community. In addition to demonstrating low integrity by being inconsistent with what was said during my interview process though and being perfectly comfortable with that, I did not observe a high level of organization (In my department.) Additionally, discipline was lacking. On one occasion I observed a tenured employee yell, openly, at the director on the floor, and nothing was done about it at all. If you know what you are getting into, and are confident in your abilities to navigate tumultious and troubled waters, than PEI is a great place to go and make a lot of money. If you expect something out of your employer though, some runway or quid pro quo I can't promise you you'll get it. I gave this company a 2 out of 5 stars. I hope you'll have a better experience than I did.

Pros

Some good people within pockets of the company.

Cons

Management is "deaf" at all levels and within all departments. Ownership is stale and the future looks scary for employees looking for stability. The succession plan is also frightening...ownership will be handed over to entitled family who lack the skills necessary to steer the ship, Bottom line: the wheels are coming off and the car is on fire! Also, their 401(K) plan is AWFUL - to add insult to the injury of having poor choices and high fees, they reserve the right to not match contributions if they want! They actually did this! It's the worst 401(K) I've ever had to deal with.
