Pros

Team oriented Great branch managers

Cons

Upper management will NEVER have your back. They will always try to find some way to screw your over. Whether it’s barely giving you a raise while you risk your life working at a branch during a pandemic, to giving you false promises of advancement only back track and say “well we need you to get experience in this area now,” to allowing customers to assault employees. That’s right! I’ve seen customers verbally assault and physically throw things at employees and threaten to fight them and upper management won’t even close their accounts and instead ask the employee “what could you have done better?” Like it’s always ALWAYS the employee’s fault. PNC will NOT have your back or best interest in mind. They WILL NOT promote you unless upper management personally likes you. They will literally dangle the opportunity of advancement right in front of your face only to get you to work harder and handle more responsibilities by telling you that they will give the position to you after completing but little do you know that they were never going to give you the position to begin with. I left the company after I got a job somewhere else and in a position I applied for at PNC and didn’t even get an interview for. Good to know that another company that I never worked for will give me an opportunity but after my 6 years at PNC I was denied for the exact same position. Way to value your employees.

Pros

Compared with similarly sized institutions, PNC offers decent work-life balance. But it all depends on who your manager is. People are generally very helpful and always willing to answer questions. For the most part, I enjoyed my time there.

Cons

Compensation is frequently ranked among the bottom percentile in the industry, and this was no exception for myself. They do not take into account the cost of living of a certain area when you are in their analyst program. For example, someone in Nashville would have to the same compensation as someone with the same position in San Francisco. During my time there, it definitely felt very “laissez faire”. Communication among deal team members was also a bit unpolished, with juniors frequently having to play catch up. The bureaucracy and level of siloing between lines of business is awful. It slows down deal execution and overall efficiency.
