Cheap Owners, Take Advantage of Employees - Sub-Roadie POSH Entertainment Employee Review

At first glance the pay looks great. As a sub-roadie they start you off at 100$ a night (before taxes). HOWEVER most of what you get will go back in for reasons I will soon explain. Their HQ is located in Cranford, NJ. If you don't live in the vicinity, be prepared to take the Parkway which is a $1.50 toll one way. You will be spending $3.00 every trip to the HQ (not including the additional tolls you'll have to go through on your way to the venues for which you're not compensated). You are not compensated for any tolls you take on Parkway. You are not compensated for gas unless the venue is located more than 60 miles from the HQ in Cranford, which if it is, you are given 50$ for on top of your current pay. Most of your events (like 90% of them) will be just under 60 miles, therefore you won't qualify for that 50$ bonus most of the time. You'll be driving very long distances in a day so be prepared to sacrifice your car and your wallet just to get by the work day. Some employees live 15-30 miles from the HQ. Your typical day will start off with you driving 15-30 miles to the HQ for the meet time (which is usually 1-4pm in the afternoon), loading up the truck for 30-45 min., driving 50-100 miles to the venue, setting up for around an hour or so there. Once you've completed setup and you're a sub-roadie, you will have to figure out what you're going to do for 5-7 hours while you're not at the venue because you are not allowed back in at all. If you finish at 6pm for example, you will have to come back to the venue at 12 or 1 am. In those 5-7 hours you have 2 options: either sleep in your car in some parking lot or go home (although going home isn't the most economical choice). When the venue ends, it will be very late, around 12pm to 2am (sometimes even 4am) and it will take you around an hour to breakup everything. After breakup, you have to drive back to the warehouse to load out all the equipment for next day's usage. Expect to be home around 2-3am every night. You will be spending a lot of your own money on tolls, gas, and food for when you inevitably get hungry during your shift. The equipment is not that heavy for an average person however it is expensive and delicate. Much of the equipment is large and bulky so in being careful you'll have to strain your back to put something into place. You'll be lifting big subwoofers, 65/75 inch TV cases, light towers, and CO2 tanks which can weigh around 150lbs. You are much better off working at a local Dunkin' Donuts or QuickCheck then coming here.
