GLP lab work is very repetitive, and it's difficult to stand out in the crowd on anything except a good attitude. - Anonymous employee PPD Employee Review

Pros

Co-workers are mostly young people who have left school within the past few years, so there is a youthful energy about the place on good days.

Cons

-mind-numbing work is the nature of the business here. It's hard to shine because in such a structured environment you are discouraged from doing anything innovative. You have to be the kind of person who likes working with their hands more than imagining solutions to problems. -As with many technical fields, the managers are people who have worked their way up through merit in their technician roles, or through attrition of colleagues. This means the middle managers can often lack the soft skills to manage people effectively. I saw several people leave not because they didn't like the work but because they couldn't figure out how to work with their managers.

Pros

Provided health insurance. Good coworkers Good exposure to team at client site If you have a good technical lead, the job can be great!

Cons

You have 2 bosses (Technical lead from Client Site) and your PPD boss. PPD Boss does not know what is going on If you have a bad technical lead, your life can be miserable. Pay is low No protection from abusive technical lead (coworkers on same team can have a drastically different experience)
