Pros

Nice coworkers Okay compensation Not high pressure

Cons

Not as competitive compensation due to being a "public utility" Upper management does not care about you, all they care about is making the board/shareholders happy and making their own money. A vast majority of employees are against returning to office, and have shown time and time again that they are productive, but yet they are still being forced back in office, some have to drive over an hour each way. Upper management is detached from reality and doesn't realize how it makes life a lot harder for the people who are not making 200k+, all they see is "I want to make the board/shareholders happy so I can get my bonus that is bigger than some people make in a year". In addition to that they keep cutting spending on things that shouldn't be cut, and are making employees pile more work onto already big plates

Pros

Engineering team is young and open for innovative ideas. Everyone supports and respects each other and willing to help and learn from each other. As a contractor - it is a very smooth and stress-free work experience.

Cons

Might be little bureaucratical when it comes to paperwork & processes but this is a large utility so this is expected or even required. People tend to rotate a lot and it makes it difficult to find support & training but everyone understand it and there is no pressure on workload most of the time allowing you to finish the job without a lot of pressure.
