The store had potential, but unfortunately, the manager didn’t know how to take advantage of it. He did not consider any of the employees' opinions regarding the clothing merchandise that should be available in the store, even though they were the only ones actively working to improve it. At times, he would completely shut himself in his office, watching the cameras just to report to upper management whenever we would take a moment to talk to each other.
Of course, upper management took his side, blaming the drop in sales on us talking instead of acknowledging that the manager continuously ordered the worst-looking clothes and shoes for the store. He also made poor visual merchandising choices and did not allow us to have any input.
The store was extremely cluttered with clothes, and you couldn’t move a single item without everything falling over.
Even when all of us employees went together to speak to upper management to explain the situation, we were still portrayed as the bad ones, accused of turning against the manager. After these interactions, the manager would sometimes throw unpleasant remarks at us whenever something didn’t go his way. There were even situations where employees left the store crying.
