Pros

The checks don't bounce, historically there's plenty of overtime opportunities for overtime in the fall and spring

Cons

So, there's a lot I could put in here, but I don't want to reveal too many details that would give away my identity and cause me to get fired - Lets start there, under Trimatrix, things were slower and to be honest the business was failing, but quality was top notch and your management actually treated you with respect and valued your input. Under the new Pace management however, a culture of fear and intimidation characterized by top down micromanagement has taken over. They have been firing people almost on a schedule - just when you start to think that maybe this place is getting better, something happens to drop morale to a new low. Employees have had termination threatened by management for both performance (breakage, low efficiency, problem solving skills) and non-performance (personality) issues. Examples of micromanagement include mandated shift times, kaizen events where people who lack experience tell you how you are to do things, and checklists similar to ones you would find in a Walmart bathroom. I have numerous of examples where sound advice was given to management from the people in the labs and it was dismissed as overly negative, ignored altogether, or acted upon far beyond the point of it actually being helpful. I have been told to do things that are financially wasteful and just downright nonsensical. Despite having a safety team that records and addresses safety concerns management only seems interested in low cost solutions such as eliminating razor blades from the lab and restricting the zones that lab coats can be worn in rather than address serious issues such as ventilation when working with volatile carcinogens. I also think that there has been more of a push for production, even at the expense of quality (e.g. I've seen non certified employees perform extractions and analyses.) Also, the nature of environmental testing is feast or famine - i.e. generally you're either really busy (end of quarter rush, spring thaw, pre-winter freeze) or incredibly slow (winter, oddly enough summer). This review was requested at the behest of Pace's marketing communications manager looking for "honest" reviews by current employees, I do not think he will get the results desired.

Thank you for your taking the time and giving such detail in your feedback. We take safety of our employees and quality of our tests very seriously and would like more detail so we can address these issues. Please feel free to call your local HR Manager to discuss further. Otherwise, you can call our confidential alert-line if that is a more comfortable option for you. We thank you again for taking the time to write this review.

Pros

Pace had an amazing work environment, the amenities available to employees were far beyond what was necessary for the job. Everyone was extremely friendly and worked well together when group work and collaboration was necessary. Truthfully I was looking forward to working every day being a part of this company! This job helped me realize my passion and helped me decide to attend college for environmental science.

Cons

I personally have nothing negative to say other than the location is quite out of the way for most of the people who worked there. I didn't mind the commute but it was a common topic spoken about in the workplace.

Pros

Good people but all had issues with upper management, and the company entirely.

Cons

Swapped ownership and no longer gives bonuses and, did not address harassment issues seriously enough to resolve it. Due to down sizes 20ish people were let go all who were part time. Injuries were followed with the firing of that person for “unrelated reasons” but seemed odd. I was also asked to do something that did not follow the guidelines I needed to follow incase of forensic use. And employee shouldn’t be asked to go against guidelines and it should have been handled by someone more experienced.
