Pros

* Opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects with real-world impact. * Strong pension benefit after five years of service. * Close-knit community and collaborative environment at the hub. * Colleagues who are passionate, mission-driven, and committed to making a positive difference.

Cons

* Long employee tenure can sometimes contribute to entrenched cliques and resistance to new perspectives. * Patterns of turnover within certain departments do not appear to receive sufficient organizational attention. * Employees experiencing challenges with management may find available HR support limited or ineffective. * Support organizations can be slow to adopt new ideas and processes. * The funding model can constrain professional development opportunities, resulting in limited training and inconsistent change management practices.

Pros

- flexible hours - immediate cohort was good - lab maintains a good reputation - pay is competitive for academia and the area

Cons

- palpable hierarchy between staff and post docs/interns - poor middle management (scientists promoted to managers who have no business in such roles) - sporadic funding and poor communication from mgmt in this regard - awful culture regarding milestones - essentially glorified research lab, no ambition/direction worthy of the national lab status
