Pros

The schedule is very flexible

Cons

Slow to promote. Micromanagement around charge codes. Very little guidance or help finding work if your projects slow down. If I could go back I wouldn’t take the job

Pros

- flexible hours - immediate cohort was good - lab maintains a good reputation - pay is competitive for academia and the area

Cons

- palpable hierarchy between staff and post docs/interns - poor middle management (scientists promoted to managers who have no business in such roles) - sporadic funding and poor communication from mgmt in this regard - awful culture regarding milestones - essentially glorified research lab, no ambition/direction worthy of the national lab status
