Pros

ESOP is great and the paychecks were always there.

Cons

Management and HR doesn't listen to employees. No career advancement opportunities. I was told my pay was capped and it wouldn't go higher but then learned a co-worker doing the same job for less time was making more than I was. I was a great employee who worked most positions at the branch and showed up for work on time each day and got along with co-workers.

Pros

Employee-owned means you’re not just clocking in — you’re invested in the success of the company. There’s real pride in working here, and it shows in how teams step up for each other. Every day brings variety, problem-solving, and chances to learn across different parts of the steel and recycling business. Leadership is approachable, and there’s room to grow if you’re willing to put in the effort. The culture balances professionalism with plenty of personality, which keeps things fun even when the workload is heavy.

Cons

Like any fast-paced industry, it can get busy and a little chaotic at times — but that’s part of the challenge and what keeps the work interesting.
