Pros

Good Benefits: Great medical plan, 401K match, and of course the ESOP structure of the company. Also offers tuition reimbursement and other learning opportunities. Promotes from within: For those willing to step up, Pacific seems to reward that. If you look at the different branch managers, a surprisingly large number of them started from the bottom and worked their way up. Safety: Especially recently, Pacific is really pushing Safety in a genuine way - i.e. not just to check off the boxes for OSHA. Employee Engagement: Looks for input from individual employee's on ways to improve the business process. There is a definite push from the Corporate level to make sure all workers feel some ownership in the company and act accordingly.

Cons

Benefits: It can be hard to find medical providers willing to work with our health plan. ESOP shares and structure can be confusing and not explained well to new employees. Not really a con so much, but something to keep in mind. The idea of Employee-Ownership is make or break on whether you will like it here. Pacific probably isn't the place for you if you are just looking to collect a paycheck.

Pros

Employee-owned means you’re not just clocking in — you’re invested in the success of the company. There’s real pride in working here, and it shows in how teams step up for each other. Every day brings variety, problem-solving, and chances to learn across different parts of the steel and recycling business. Leadership is approachable, and there’s room to grow if you’re willing to put in the effort. The culture balances professionalism with plenty of personality, which keeps things fun even when the workload is heavy.

Cons

Like any fast-paced industry, it can get busy and a little chaotic at times — but that’s part of the challenge and what keeps the work interesting.
