Pros
They offer a huge variety of clothing and are constantly changing what they carry to attract to the market trends. The environment can be fun to work at given the management is decent. The discount is pretty good as well. My experience with scheduling has proven they are fairly flexible. They offer some growth in the company, but it has proven difficult to make any progress. That is partly to blame on the ones running the store. My sales abilities has greatly helped my store reach goals but hasn't landed me much in the terms of promotion. Not to say i haven't moved up because I have but in some cases they will hire unknowns from outside the company into management versus hiring inside the company. My store has gone through 3 asst managers in the last year, all from outside the company. 2 were skill less and in the wrong field, 1 was unhappy with the store manager. Ive gotten free jeans, and free shorts from their promotions and methods of encouraging employees to sell.
Cons
Sometimes the goals are a little ridiculous when it comes to beating last years numbers. The matrix used for their hours sucks, and some stores over hire so associates get 1 or 2 3-4hour shifts a week if they are lucky. The assistant manager pay cap is too low. The lead sales cap is way too low since they expect you to know the same stuff as an assistant except your not supposed to be working as much. I work full time.... so basically pacsun has a bargain employee. They are getting an asst manager for lead sales (senior sales associate) pay. Sales contests kinda suck and they haven't had any good ones in a while. Raises have been non existent since i worked there. They want you to basically annoy the customer the whole time they are in the store. Like the second someone walks in show them whats new, drag them around bring them to the fitting room, bring them outfits with out them asking, check on them after they have been in there for like 60 seconds. I prefer my own method which is less hostile and has given me great results for my store.
