Pros

You get to meet and help many interesting individuals who really need the assistance of a caregiver. It is a fulfilling job knowing that individuals are helped to live as independent as they can, even with moderate to severe physical and mental health disabilities. The pay is great.

Cons

The policy and procedures constantly fluctuate. There is no set standard of rules to follow. They change them weekly to fit whatever is currently happening at that time. The rules are changed so much and the hours are cut so bad that it becomes very difficult to do the job. Too much micro managing.

Palco Response

Due to the fluctuating number of individuals we serve in a given area, our needs change along with them. Unfortunately, there are times when an employee’s hours and/or territory needs to be adjusted to keep up with the fluctuating volume of individuals we serve in a specified area. We realize that this can be difficult at times, but we do our best to strike a balance that works best for both those we serve and our employees.

Pros

Remote work flexibility was the strongest benefit of working here.

Cons

The company’s leadership challenges began at the highest levels of the organization and influenced the culture throughout the company. Which results in consistent toxic work environments across the organization. Strategic direction changed frequently, with goals and expectations shifting throughout projects—including near completion—which resulted in rework and confusion. There was a lack of consistent business rules and standardized processes, making it difficult for teams to make decisions confidently. Communication from leadership often felt inconsistent. Employees were encouraged to take initiative, but at times were criticized for following the direction they had been given. This created an environment where many employees became hesitant to speak up or take ownership.
