Pros
A great place to start and learn how the newspaper industry works, well sort of anyway. Nice people
Cons
Don't work here. They are way understaffed and add on job requirements making things way stressful, I mean slavery, for the pay. There are no pay raises, I know people who have worked for years without a pay raise, I was told that from my boss when I started. The idea is not "news" it is pushing short and quick articles to sell advertising and the advertisers influence the news, as a reporter, keep the advertisers happy, so the publisher and editors are happy. White male good-ole-boys club, downgrading the female race in reporting. Inadequate training for new employees, poor communication. No annual performance reviews or salary incentives or cost of living increases. Hope you live at home with your parents otherwise for the work, you don't survive. High turnover, and they don't care.
