Pros

The title says it all. Paperless Post today is a different company than it was years back. Period. And we're all happier for it. Full disclosure: I'm writing this because I just came out of an awesome 1:1 with my manager and I figured I'd show it off somewhere. From a work perspective: We're a no BS organization that values and listens to the great people on the team. Leadership is especially good at pinpointing where weaknesses are and finding the right people to address those weak points. They're almost too good... as if they see it all. If you're looking for a company that'll be okay with you sitting back and relaxing rather than actually helping move mountains, this is not the place for you. If you're not open to learning from a very positive, blameless environment, then this is still not the place for you. If you're the type that thinks you know it all? Definitely not the spot for you. We're pretty much all about getting things done and done the right way. (as opposed to just... getting things done.) The company is profitable. Shout out to the Finance team for being firm with their goals and for making that happen. It was obviously a company-wide push, but you know what I mean. The company runs like a well oiled machine. Shout out to the IT, People Ops, and Office Ops teams for making that happen. From a cultural perspective: Snacks galore. There's always food in the canteen. Like so much to the point where you'll have to start working out. Take advantage of that deal you get with our insurance policy that gives you a great deal on a gym membership. You'll need it because of the great food that shows up for events.... or even on the best Friday ever. The company is inclusive, almost so inclusive it makes you wonder if there's even a type of person that wouldn't fit in and enjoy their time with us, both at work and at play. Here's what I'm talking about: Have a go-to Karaoke Song? Love table top games? Enjoy running or are into keeping in shape? Are you an Apple fan? Do you like your PC? Do you love baking cookies? Are you into having puppies roaming around the office? Do you love your cats? Are you into bagels? #bagelmondays . Do you like beer on tap? (We have two in our canteen). Do you like beer out of bottles? (yeah, got that too). Are you into cookies? What about popcorn? Would you be interested in joining us for a poker night? What about yankee swaps? Do you like empanadas? What about movie nights? What about KBBQ? Do you enjoy parties? Do you enjoy gatherings? Do you enjoy working in silence? Can you focus best with a pair of headphones on? If your answer was a yes for at least TWO of these things... then culturally, you'll love it here. NOTE: This is not an ad. No one has time for that.

Cons

If you're on glassdoor because you're considering an opportunity with Paperless Post, good. Here's the list: - Very specific teams work crazy hours and weekends (but of course, this is made up for with the opportunity to work from home the following day, and of course, the 20 PTO days we're given by default etc) - Bring back Welcome on-boarding sessions with all teams so new folks (and old) understand what each team does! - Find more ways to build culture and to get folks out and about after-hours - The commute is brutal sometimes (this is specific to me, obviously) - Sometimes the office is just too quiet, even with a full house. - Some rooms have lighting that's too dim (some like this because honestly, it is cozy but... almost too cozy) - Bring back Happy Hours and ways to bring cross-functional socialization to the org! - The elevators in the building are so unreliable sometimes you'll get stuck in there with it just traveling to floors that haven't even been pressed. - Not clear if the office is dog friendly or not (come on, make it dog friendly already, and publicize it!) - Some folks bottle in how passionate they feel about a change or decision that's been made and end up - Can we bring back green tea and coconut water? - WAY too many white walls. Like almost too many. Get some pictures up on those walls please.

Pros

You do get exposure to different problems fast.

Cons

The training barely helps, then you get judged hard when you struggle. When layoffs happened, it felt rushed and careless, like people were just numbers. Managers tend to talk down to you and pass blame instead of fixing problems. Upper management stays out of sight and only shows up to shut things down. Teams don't really work together, everyone stays in their own bubble and ignores the bigger picture. Bullying is brushed off like it is no big deal, even when it happens right in front of everyone. Growth is a mystery because no one explains roles, levels, or what comes next. HR is basically useless. If you complain about anything, you get shrugged at or told it's not their problem. People who cause issues are allowed to stick around, which drags everyone else down. Morale is so low, it's hard to care about doing good work when the environment is constantly draining. Communication is a complete nightmare. Decisions are made randomly, then dumped on your team with no context. You're expected to figure it out yourself while managers stay in their offices and act surprised when things go wrong. It feels like chaos is the only plan.
