Cons
This all depends on your particular leadership, team members, etc., but if you’re unfortunate enough to be on a poorly-managed team, it’s easy for an entire work experience to become mind-blowingly toxic. There’s such a marked hierarchy that big personalities being downright abusive to “lower-rung” colleagues is entirely tolerated. I did not witness this at HCA in general - only Parallon. Not only did I experience this myself, but I saw it over and over again with my colleagues. We all eventually left. Being snapped at and interrupted at meeting after meeting is one thing; being entirely excluded from conversations, meetings, decisions, training, etc. for matters that you’ll be made responsible for us quite another. When you’re in a position without much power, this can truly affect motivation and performance. Twenty years at HCA, and I have never witnessed the type of environment I’ve seen at Parallon.
