Pros

Some of the best coworkers you will ever have and since we are so under staffed- you'll probably be working 6 days a week. They become your second family and I couldn't be happier with mine.

Cons

Educated employees are literate employees. I just love when people call themselves educated yet do not know how to use proper grammar. As you can see by this “Branch Supervisor’s” review, you can see just how employees of Patelco are treated. We are treated like we’re dirt from a lot of the people that come into the branches and also given no respect by upper management. Do not compare Credit Union MSR’s to banks because here at Patelco, we do the jobs of both Tellers and Personal Bankers. At banks, PB’s make $45k a year plus commission (I know that because I am constantly being reached out to by managers and recruiters from these "big banks"- so do not compare that to the $14 hr. we make here. This person just told you all the truth to how “Supervisors” see us and this is EXACTLY why turnover is so high. Respect your employees, for they are human. Show them compassion and kindness, and in return, you will get happy employees (meaning less turnover).

Pros

Their vision and mission are great and Patelco is really about helping members, however the work life balance is horrible.

Cons

Work–life balance is essentially nonexistent under the current PTO structure. The system is outdated and unrealistic. Staff are required to submit all time‑off requests at the end of the year, as if everyone can plan their personal lives twelve months in advance. Each region can be more than ten branches, yet only three employees are allowed to be off at any given time. If you need time off and those three slots are already filled, your request is automatically denied. Because branches are expected to cover one another for vacations, call‑outs, and general staffing gaps, PTO is restricted to protect coverage rather than support employees. This approach prioritizes administrative convenience over real people with real, unpredictable lives. It is built around coverage, not humanity, and work–life balance becomes collateral damage. Leadership repeatedly emphasizes that “business needs come first,” but for a company centered on helping people, you would expect a stronger commitment to supporting the well‑being of its own staff.
