Change resistant, non-inclusive, toxic culture - Anonymous employee Patterson & Dewar Engineers Employee Review

Pros

Compensation is competitive, benefits are good but fairly typical (management says they are the best available - this is not true), company reputation with clients is strong. Also had a generous time-off policy for those who work overtime (though that may change).

Cons

If you are not an engineer, you will play by a different set of rules. New leadership at P&D has created a toxic environment that discourages diverse viewpoints and blames former employees for their own failings. Leadership of the Hood-Patterson commissioning division creates a hostile environment in the office at times for employees who do not share their political ideologies. Senior staff is also not held accountable for discrimination or repeated sexual harassment. "Non-billable" staff is often made to feel less valued than others, and has very limited opportunities. Arrogance is not in short supply here. There is also not much desire for progress - "we've been successful doing it this way for 75 years" is the typical response to anything new.

Patterson & Dewar Engineers Response

At P&D we strive to make our workplace as inclusive as possible. Therefore, we take allegations of discrimination and sexual harassment very seriously. This type of behavior is not tolerated at P&D, and we encourage the person posting this review to share their concerns with human resources. Employees are encouraged to share their thoughts and feelings regarding their work environment numerous times throughout the year via anonymous surveys for the annual shareholder meeting and the yearly Atlanta Journal Constitution’s Top Workplaces. We continue to win the top workplaces award based on the survey responses. Also, our leadership team reviews the responses and addresses any employee concerns mentioned in the surveys.
