Pros
Although not perfect, Pax8 is by far the best company I have worked for. Working in sales, it’s fantastic being part of a business that is truly great at what they do, especially when entering into a market where the competition is average at best. This has led to huge growth over the last 18 months and successes throughout the team. Targets and very much achievable, and promotion within sales roles is based on overachievement of target over a set period meaning everything in transparent and purely based on merit. This means there are many team members who have seen multiple promotions and significant increases in pay over the last 18 months. Also, when management positions become available, Pax8 always prioritises promoting from within. The leadership team are very progressive; I trust that every decision they make has our interests at heart, and they have built a culture where success does not come at the expense of work-life balance. It feels like everyone at the business is on board with making it a success, especially as we receive shares in the company after a year of service.
Cons
Specific to the account management role: be prepared to have to be extremely resourceful as a lot of responsibilities sit on your shoulders and often answers are difficult to find when you have clients waiting on you. Pax8 UK has scaled up so quickly and sales always leads the charge in that type of environment. This has led to back-end functions being a little thin for the demand on them which falls on client-facing employees to deal with the fallout. However, this is in the process of being addressed and I trust and we’ll get it right. Many functions are still being run from the US which means you may have to wait until the afternoon for answers and only have a small window during the working day to discuss. Again, much of this has got better over time as the UK team has grown and will continue to do so.
