Pros

Looks good on a resume, get to learn how a large and successful company operates. Great co-workers and health benefits.

Cons

Low pay for how much work you are expected to do. Hard to get promoted or to go to another department. Section 125 Department is a revolving door and it always seems understaffed. On the phone all day and Metrics are hard to meet. You deal with many upset Participants and Clients every day which causes a lot of stress. Technical issues are very common which prompts upset people to take their anger at you. There are about 4 different websites that participants and Clients are expected to log into, none work properly. Paychex makes over $600 million in Net Income each year and cannot spend a few pennies to create website that works with today's browsers. Management will almost never speak with an upset person on the phone, even after they ask for a supervisor repeatedly.

Pros

Paychex is a great company to work for. I’ve held multiple roles over 20+ years. There are always ups and downs, but for every position, manager, decision I disagree with, there are ten others that are outstanding.

Cons

It’s a large company with many opportunities to grow, but smaller companies may offer higher compensation.

Pros

Remote work is a plus. Collaboration from peers is more plus than minus. Documentation of business technology was great for the most part.

Cons

Worse holiday observance company I ever worked for. Pay is low for what is asked. Work/life balance was good until 2025. Mid-level leadership and above is not ideal. I had little guidance when I started so, especially from manager so had to figure things out with help of peers.
