Nothing was good about working here anymore. There used to be things like recognition via gift cards and points you could actually buy things with. Now there's no budget for anything, including raises.
Cons
I was terminated for what my supervisor labeled theft of time. What it actually was, is I accidentally put the wrong time off type on my time card, and without allowing me to correct it or explain myself i was fired. My guess is the department was looking for budget cuts (TAA implementation) and they saw an easy opportunity by letting me go. I was aware that i was making the most on my team by about $4/ hour because of how long I'd been with the company. Additionally, i was made aware that the supervisor that fired me was given a promotion a few weeks later, this is part of what leads me to believe my termination was about budget cuts more than anything. Has anyone heard of the bell curve? Well, this is what Paychex uses to give out their annual reviews. This means that majority of the company is destined to get a 3, or On Track, and get the standard 3% raise. The few 4 and 5's are only for leadership favorites. I have heard stories from several supervisors about how their manager told them to lower a review score because it doesn't fit into the allotted number of 4's they can give for the year, AKA their bell curve. For a company that got its roots from Payroll, they sure do suck at it now. The number one complaint i received from my clients was that they couldn't get ahold of their payroll rep. I also experienced the same thing, even when i would reach out to payroll leadership my inquiries would go unanswered. I do believe that part of the problem is their payroll reps are far too over worked, they wear wayyyy too many hats., Sales doesn't know the products that they're selling, and it the long run it hurts everyone on service that handles the client after the initial sale. I cant tell you the amount of times i actually had to tell clients sales doesn't know what they're talking about. Overall, the culture here is non existent and its leaderships' fault. The only people i hear say they are happy working here are the salaried employees, and its because they have SO much more flexibility than the hourly people. Bring back monthly team lunches sponsored by the company. Bring back gift cards as incentives for going above and beyond, when people feel unappreciated is when morale drops. Bring back organizing team outings outside of work, Bring back any sort of team building events and I'm sure people would start hating their jobs a little less.
