Pros

This job is fine and all but they expect a lot of output for a low salary. However, the benefits are great and you get 5 floating holidays, sick time and PTO accrual. There is a lot of opportunity for lateral movement. You can post for other positions within the company after completing one year in your current position.

Cons

I wouldn't recommend working here if your long term goal is to work your way up to a high ranking position. Promotions typically aren't based on how hard you work, but who you know. So, there is a good chance that you may consistently go above and beyond for years with little to no reward. Annual raises are typically 3% of what you are making but it is up to the supervisor. They can do 4 or maybe 5% if they think you're great or they can choose not to give you a raise at all. That's why most employee's usually wind up receiving a 3% annual raise. I began with an entry level position (call center) making $13.13 and hour and when I left 5 years later, I was a senior specialist and was making $17.75 an hour.

Pros

Paychex is a great company to work for. I’ve held multiple roles over 20+ years. There are always ups and downs, but for every position, manager, decision I disagree with, there are ten others that are outstanding.

Cons

It’s a large company with many opportunities to grow, but smaller companies may offer higher compensation.

Pros

Remote work is a plus. Collaboration from peers is more plus than minus. Documentation of business technology was great for the most part.

Cons

Worse holiday observance company I ever worked for. Pay is low for what is asked. Work/life balance was good until 2025. Mid-level leadership and above is not ideal. I had little guidance when I started so, especially from manager so had to figure things out with help of peers.
