Unbelievably toxic culture - Sales Representative Paycom Employee Review

Pros

Money could be good….if you can deal with psychotic micro-managing from their corporate office…but something like 90% of sales reps either quit or get fired during their first year

Cons

The single most toxic workplace I’ve ever experienced. Get ready to work 70+ hours a week in a territory that’s been heavily prospected, with corporate leaders staring down your neck every second of every day, looking for a reason to fire you. Every single rep I ever met is terrified that they’ll be next to get fired. Motivation is fear-based, and that’s by design. Has the feel of a scammy multi-level marketing company on the inside. Corporate HQ cares more about how much you’re drinking their kool aid than your actual financial performance, and star reps are constantly being fired on minimal notice. President’s Club means nothing in terms of job security, and they’ll start interviewing your replacement the second that they think you had one bad week. The whole “our sales reps are so rich” image that they push so hard is fools gold. Clawbacks are common, stock gifts don’t vest for years and years (they know you won’t be around long enough for them to vest), and they won’t hesitate to pull reps off of deals and fire people on the spot. When I first opened my desk drawers, I found business cards from 4 prior reps who didn’t last longer than 8 months

Pros

* Fast learning and professional skill growth. * Great people and strong teams. * Recognized name in the OKC community. * Valuable experience that strengthens future career opportunities, especially in Tech.

Cons

Over the past couple of years, career growth has felt extremely limited. Promotions and meaningful raises have become increasingly rare, and many employees believe these decisions are being driven from the very top. Layoffs and terminations have also become common, creating a constant sense of uncertainty. High performers often take on high-visibility projects with aggressive timelines and limited support. The expectations are unrealistic, and even successful delivery doesn’t usually lead to recognition or advancement. Leadership tends to make decisions very late, creating unnecessary urgency and forcing teams into last-minute scrambles. Benefits have declined, opportunities for advancement have become scarce, and overall morale has suffered significantly. There are talented people here and it can be a good place to gain experience, but I would view it primarily as a stepping stone rather than a long-term destination.
