Pros

There are some truly kind and helpful people in this organization. There are clearly defined career paths. It is a paycheck.

Cons

*Sales paychecks are nearly almost calculated incorrectly. Indicative of the company at large, they can't get the most basic thing done correctly. The company's plan to go public by simply scaling in sheer numbers backfired, evidenced by the recent lay offs. The estimated earnings shared during the interview process is deliberately misleading. Company culture is a facade. The sales team largely was miserable and resented middle management for their duplicitous stories and opaque reasoning. The offer volunteer trips that are held for the photographic evidence that Paycor is indeed a company that cares. Right after these events employees take surveys asking if they feel like the company's culture and volunteer focus are genuine. Middle management that was in place during the initial scale was inexperience and simply unable to handle the pressures of growth or managing people in general. Office favoritism dictated who can come in late and who can't. HR is a purely a rubber stamp for the company.

Paycor Response

Thank you for your feedback. It’s great to hear that you valued the kind people with whom you worked; our culture truly is defined by the great people who work here. We live by Guiding Principles like “take care of the client first” and “have fun along the way” – and we mean it. Employees are encouraged to complete surveys multiple times throughout each year, and our scores continue to tell a story that we’re proud to share about our work environment. I’m also happy that you saw a path for your career growth. Regarding your advice to management, we take these allegations seriously and believe strongly from prior investigation that the concerns raised are not factual.

Pros

Paycheck hits on time every two weeks.

Cons

I wanted to like working at Paycor. The product has potential and the pitch during the interview process sounded promising. But the reality of day-to-day life here is a far cry from what's advertised. Micromanagement is rampant. Leadership tracks every minute of your day — from login times to bathroom breaks — yet somehow trusts no one to make even the smallest decision independently. You're treated like a number, not a professional. There's zero autonomy, and any attempt to take initiative is quickly shut down. The leadership team is deeply out of touch. Many managers got their roles through tenure, not merit, and it shows. They struggle to answer basic questions about the industry, lean on buzzwords in meetings, and consistently make decisions that anyone with relevant experience would know to avoid. When things go wrong, blame rolls downhill fast. The culture is toxic and cliquey. If you're not in the right social circle, advancement is nearly impossible. Favoritism is blatant, feedback is rarely constructive, and the "open door policy" is a joke — speak up and you'll find yourself quietly pushed out. The work environment doesn't help either. High turnover means institutional knowledge constantly walks out the door. Morale is low, burnout is high, and HR seems more interested in protecting the company than the employees.
