Pros

Paycor is poised to truly be a differentiator in the HCM space for small-medium sized businesses. The company has emerged from a challenging year with COVID - where Support and Implementation resources were stretched very thin - but has made (and is continuing to make) strategic investments in headcount and training for these areas. Clients have noticed the improvement - and the future looks promising. Pros of Paycor: - Flexible WFH Virtual-First - I can't emphasize how much of a pro this is. While many companies are mandating a return to physical office space, Paycor has embraced virtual-first. They're also strategically trying to find more ways to continue to build a strong company culture in a remote environment - Benefits & Comp - Benefits package is strong and comp is competitive in the tech world - Leadership - This may vary from team-to-team; Speaking for the Success team, each of the Leaders on our team is fully committed to helping us be our best and grow; they always make themselves available to problem solve and assist when you need help; Collaboration across the team is strong - Opportunities for Growth - Paycor looks for opportunities to advance its associates through promotion and highly encourages movement within the organization; I have a clear understanding of what it will take to get to the next level in my role - which I appreciate - Product - new features are being released frequently which are of high value to clients; products across the stack are strong and getting even better

Cons

Sales-heavy focus - There is a very high focus on sales within the company, while Support/Implementation fell by the wayside during COVID. This seems to be shifting as the company is laser focused on Customer Experience and making strategic investments in our Support and Imp. parts of the business

Pros

Remote-first company, flexible hours, very realistic/understanding that human beings work here, not automatons.

Cons

I have none. Honestly. Happiest I've been as an employee in any job I've ever had.

Pros

Paycheck hits on time every two weeks.

Cons

I wanted to like working at Paycor. The product has potential and the pitch during the interview process sounded promising. But the reality of day-to-day life here is a far cry from what's advertised. Micromanagement is rampant. Leadership tracks every minute of your day — from login times to bathroom breaks — yet somehow trusts no one to make even the smallest decision independently. You're treated like a number, not a professional. There's zero autonomy, and any attempt to take initiative is quickly shut down. The leadership team is deeply out of touch. Many managers got their roles through tenure, not merit, and it shows. They struggle to answer basic questions about the industry, lean on buzzwords in meetings, and consistently make decisions that anyone with relevant experience would know to avoid. When things go wrong, blame rolls downhill fast. The culture is toxic and cliquey. If you're not in the right social circle, advancement is nearly impossible. Favoritism is blatant, feedback is rarely constructive, and the "open door policy" is a joke — speak up and you'll find yourself quietly pushed out. The work environment doesn't help either. High turnover means institutional knowledge constantly walks out the door. Morale is low, burnout is high, and HR seems more interested in protecting the company than the employees.
